440 cu in versus 1.9 L
My brother had a friend named Bob who owned a 1969 Dodge Dart with a 440 Six Pack. It had a tubbed out 9 inch rear end and was on the bottle. It was bright orange and reportedly had a loud sound system, but no one heard it over the rumble of the engine. It was street legal and my brother said it was the only car in Florissant that could easily take his own 1970 Superbee with the same powerplant.
At the same time, I had a 1988 Ford Escort with a 1.9 Liter four-banger with a four speed manual tranny. It was still under warranty, with after market hubcaps, a CB radio and a 40 watt booster hooked up to the tape deck. I must say here that I also had at the time a Honda CM450 motorcycle. The bike has no other relevance to this story other than the fact that I had my helmet in the car with me. I donned the helmet and challenged the Dart to a race.
