A Wrench for Area Rides
The big changes that were planned for the Area Rides site did not happen as planned. There were setbacks then. Now that those setbacks are fixed there is a new set. Right now the main computer used to keep everything going is broken.
A replacement is in the works, but in the meantime the original look will have to do. This, of course, will not impede the coverage of shows nor will it keep the calendar from being updated. Things will continue as planned and once the computer is repaired (or replaced) the new Area Rides will go live.
So far, the new site will have not only a new logo, but a new format as well. I do believe it will be easier to navigate and will have more information on the front page for easy access. The slideshow will go away so Internet Exploder users will not miss out.
It is time to trim the fat on the site. Though the past content will still be available it will be pushed to the back burner so to speak. This will make the new content more prominent to allow the site to run more efficiently. I am not aware that the site was slow, but there were a fair amount of extras used solely for looks and those will go to the wayside. Those with slower connections should have no troubles loading the site quickly.
The numbers show a fair amount of hits to the site- even in the off-season. For this I thank you all. Soon there will be more once the season kicks back up and there will be more coverage this year and it is already looking like the calendar will have even more events listed than last year.
Thank you for sticking with Area Rides. Your support drives the site. In turn Area Rides will continue its support of the local automotive community.
